Trunk-or-treat reprise

As a tradition 3 years running we go up and trunk-or-treat with Eli's parents. Since Eli was put of town for part of last week he missed the fun. We started the night off with a YES on PROP 8 sign holding rally, which is always entertaining. Aubree just sat in the stroller and watched a movie while Hayley was strapped to me. After the PROP 8 fun we headed over to the church to trunk-or-treat. Their ward does things very different from ours. They have a soup and chili cooking contest, carnival games, a parade of costumes, and then trunk-or-treating is inside the different classrooms. Grandma took Aubree over to "go fishing" which was hilarious because she didn't quite get the consept, it took many many times of throwing the string back over for her to wait long enough to "reel" her prise in. Then Grandma walked with Aubree as part of the parade for which she won a metal for, being so cute and all. When it was time to get the candy Uncle Luke took Hayley and walked along with us. Aubree was so funny everytime she would get to a door she would put her candy bucket on the table, take the piece of candy in her hand, then she would put it into the bucket, and grab the bucket to move on. By the end of the night Aubree's little candy bucket was so full we had to dump it into a bigger bag multiple times. The kids got quite the haul. The only thing that would have made it better was daddy being there.

Sometimes its hard to be the only fancy person in the family

If you haven't hard of Fancy Nancy you are missing out. It is the cutest new children's book series. It is all about this girl, Nancy, who thinks everything needs to be fancy. She loves to use "fancy" words like POSH and EXQUISITE, then she explains what the words mean. She also loves anything that's French. Well, Grandma wins the prize for finding a Fancy Nancy doll, which she bought along with a new outfit for Aubree. Aubree was so excited that she carried that doll everywhere with her and of course had to nap with her. Grandma also got a book that Aubree promptly needed read to her. A few minutes later Aubree walked over to the phone to tell the nobody on the other end all about Nancy and how she is so fancy. Thanks Grandma you definatly made Aubree's day for like a year.

Disneyland, just because we can

Eli had been working pretty to close to Disneyland, so we decided to take advantage of the opportunity and go. We LOVE Disneyland especially with daddy. Our adventure usually ends up about the same way. I have to go feed Hayley so Aubree and Eli go off and find some ride to go on a few times while they wait. Then we hit our favorites, which is always changing depending on how nervous Aubree feels about some of the rides. Then we get dinner ride a few more rides, I then again feed Hayley while Aubree and Eli finish up with a few more rides and we make it home pretty close to bed time. If we ever move, not that we are this is something I would defiantly miss.

Never gonna grow up. not me

Hayley is 6 months old now. She is growing up so fast, the latest trick in her bag is that when she wants to she can hold her own bottle. I am pretty sure she is a little young to be doing this. Sometimes I never want her to grow up and then I think about the wonderful it will be to watch her do so.

Trunk-or-Treat

This is a tradition that I love. We didn't do this growing up and now I would defiantly miss it if we ever left. For those of you who don't know, trunk-or-treating is where you trick-or-treat to...trunks in the church parking lot. I think Halloween is so much fun and couldn't resist on dressing up for all the fun. This year I thought it would be fun to hand out something instead of candy so I ordered some glow in the dark bouncy balls. Then a friend of ours called and said that they had bought play dough for the event but were going out of town so would we give it out for them. I also had a ton of candy left over from the farmers market so we took that too. So needless to say we were handing out a haul just from our car. Aubree really enjoyed it, in our ward the kids just keep going around and around until the candy is gone, which turned out to be about 3 times. Hayley seemed to love being outside, being with dad, and handing out the candy. The only complaint I have is that it is so dark and it's hard to see the cute kids in their costumes. We got to participate with the BOO at the ZOO, which means we got in an hour and a half early and trick-or-treat at the zoo. We were so excited to trick-or-treat again because by this time Aubree was getting pretty good at it and we still would do it 3 more times. It was fun to see the animals as they were just being let into there outside cages. Last time we went to the zoo it was really hot so we only saw about half so we started the day out by seeing the animals we missed last time. That is when we found my new favorite animal in the zoo the Siamang. He is a large member of the Gibbons family. The Siamang is very neat because it has this sac that sits between their chin and chest that amplifies their sound. Apparently you can hear them for 2 1/2 miles. When we walked upto these chimps they were just starting to make some noise and that made Aubree start making the noise back at them. Well they must have either understood her or felt territorial (which is why they make the sound), because after she did they got really loud for a few minutes it was so magical. As we walked around the backside of the zoo we found the Osteridge, which Aubree told us was her favorite that day. As soon as Aubree and Eli walked up to fence she came right over and just looked at them. Then as we were about to take the pictures she started to eat. It was neat to see Aubree be so taken with that beautiful animal. The zoo has resently created a Gorilla escape, it has a great views of the Gorillas and is usually quite busy. Last time we went I missed the Gorilla's and wanted to see them this time. As we got the to big window we saw some friends from our ward and as we talked Aubree and their little girl stood next to window and watched the Baby Gorilla play. The next thing I knew the Baby Gorilla was walking up to the little girls. I thought she just wanted to come say Hi, well I was wrong because as soon as she got close enough the Baby Gorilla threw her arms up onto the glass and just started banging on it. It shook Aubree up, becuase she put her hands up in the air and asked to be picked up because she didn't like it. It was hilarious in a I am so glad there is glass between us and them kind of way. As part of the trick-or-treating the girls got monkey masks, which as we were leaving Aubree wanted to put on. She was so funny when she would put the mask on she would say," I'm not Aubree, I am Monkey". Then she would lift up the mask and say now I'm Aubree. She has such a great imagineation. I Love the zoo and am so greatful to my Heavanly Father for creating such amazing animals.

I don't think dogs like to take baths

The other day Aubree was doing one of her favorite things to do. Play with water in the bathroom sink. She was playing with her plastic princess and dishes and apparently doggy wanted to join the fun because this is what I found when I walked in. I guess I should keep an eye on Aubs when I am on the phone. Oops! No, she didn't get into trouble. I just explained that the doggy doesn't like to get wet and I think she bought it, at least for now.
