I am She-Ra, hear me roar

When Aubree gets dressed in the morning she always wants to put her socks and shoes on, she gets this from Eli, I prefer to be barefoot. Well the other day she was trying to get her socks out of the drawer and when she pulled the drawer open this is what happened. It scared her pretty good, but she didn't get hurt. The dresser is a hand me down from me, and it was bought at Wal-mart 4 1/2 years ago, so I guess you get what you pay for.

Fat Lip

Tonight we went grocery shopping at Food 4 Less, yes you read right we drive all that way to go grocery shopping because even with gas prices it is still cheaper. Our plan for shopping is Hayley stays with me while Aubree and Eli go and get items that we need, usually across the store so it helps Aubree get the energy out as well as entertain her. However tonight it is a different story as she was going to get the cheese she tripped and bit her lip hard core. Eli was right there to scoop her up to comfort her, and before long her face and the shoulder of his shirt were covered in blood. A man who saw the whole thing found some paper towels that were on the wall to use for spills and brought them to Eli. After the crying and cleaning up Aubree and Eli this was the end result. She says it's O.k. but every once and a while she will look at me and say, "it hurts a little bit". I hope her lip is better by the time we have the grand kids pictures taken next week.

There's nothing left for me to do but dance

Thanks to our great friends the Fors we have found a dance and music class for Aubree. The instructor Ms. Claire is great and is so patient with the kids. Aubree is very active and pretty vocal (we don't know where she gets that from), but she did just as she was told. Ms. Claire is very good at having the kids listen with out ever being negative or raising her voice. Aubree learned to do many ballet moves and loved every minute of it. All we need to do now is get her a leotard and some ballet slippers and she will be set. Aubree can't wait to go back.

Some things are just harder on me than on the girls

Today Hayley had her 2 month old check up. Hayley weighed in at 13 pounds and 23 1/4 inches tall. The Dr. told me she has amazing head control, which should come at 3-4 months. We are thrilled. The worst part of going to the Dr.'s is the shots. Hayley got 3 shots and 1 oral med. She took them like a champ. She cried when the needle was in her leg but as soon as it was out she stopped. Mom on the other hand was teary from the time it started until I got to pick her up again, I was like this with Aubree as well. Hayley's legs are a little tender but with the help of some Tylenol she is sleeping and being her sweet self.
Why are somethings so hard for parents, its like this instant protection you feel for them the moment you give birth.

Amen

Yesterday we attended an office picnic for Eli's work and had a blast. Aubree really enjoyed the bounce house and the hot dogs, but her favorite thing was the duck pond. The ducks were neat but the turtles were even better. Who new all the effort his company put into the party and Aubree thought the pond was the best.

On the way home Aubree started to say a prayer and it was so sweet. She thanked Heavenly Father for the day, mommy, daddy, her baby sister and brother(Aubree thinks my brother Trey is her brother as well), she thanked him for the fun day and then she closed her prayer. The most remarkable thing about this is lately Aubree doesn't want to fold her arms let alone say the prayer. I guess when your ready to pray it doesn't matter where you are.

Leftovers anyone

When Eli came home tonight, I had just finished cleaning up the house. I had done hair all afternoon, and we are having company over tomorrow night and the girls were being great so I thought I should Carpe Diam and clean. We decided instead of messing up what I have just done we would like to go out to dinner. So we went to BJ's, it is a Chicago style pizzeria. The food is good but to be honest we really go there for the Pizookies. If you have never had one let me be the one to persuade to try them. They are a cookie that isn't quite cooked all the way with ice cream on top, this description is not doing them justice so just take my word for it and try one.

Anyways, Aubree as many of you know is a huge fan of noodles (noodles with white sauce, not plain, got to get that one right). Her noodles always come way to hot so we take some off the big plate and put them on a smaller plate to help them cool down (the smaller plate is what she eats off).

When we were done with our dinner and while we waited on the dessert the waiter brought us some boxes just in case we needed them. Aubree said she was done, I asked Eli if he thought we should take home the noodles she didn't eat (meaning the noodles left on the big plate). Aubree took this as if we needed to take her plate with us, she put her plate in the to go box and said,
"I'm ready to go". She is always trying to be such a good helper, but I think BJ's probably wants their plate.

Keek a boo

Aubree loves to play peek a boo when she is getting dressed, however the conversation usually goes like this.

As I am getting the shirt ready to put on her
Aubree: I want to keek a boo, you o.k.
As she is doing whats in the picture
Aubree: Keek a boo
As she is putting her head in so you can't see her face
Aubree: where is Aubree?
As she is poking her head out
Aubree: oh, here I is (like she didn't know all along)
As she is trying to put her hands in
Aubree: Push, you can do it (she like to talk to her hands, more on that later)

We do this routine every time she gets dressed.

Just keep your eyes on the...Camera

Aubree has started saying cheese but not looking at the camera. It is so frustrating, I will tell her to look at the camera and smile and she does for about 2 seconds, so I end up with a bunch of pictures of the side of her face. Oh well guess she's trying right?

Wanna go for a swim?

At the arboretum we walked to this beautiful waterfall, Aubree and her friend Julie were standing on the rocks to look at it, apparently that is the best view? I was over in the shade with Hayley and decided Aubree was maybe just a little too close. I put Hayley in the stroller and as I walked to tell her to not stand on the rock , Holly must have had the same idea because I stepped on her foot which caused me to lose my balance and almost push Aubree in and push Julie backwards almost causing her to fall in. I like to think that it was because of my catlike reflexes that no one ended up in the water, but I really think it was because Holly managed to grab us all. Oops !

This is great picture if I say so myself, would you believe it was taken in the middle of the city? If only she could have kept her eyes open, oh well now we have a picture of her beautiful eye lids.

Can you say O-C-D?

Yesterday we went to the Arboretum with a group of friends. It was a lot of fun but it was too hot for anyones good. As many of you know Aubree has a weirdness with her feet, ever since she was little she hated her feet being dirty. Every time she got in the car she would take her shoes off and ask for a wipe to clean them. This escalated to taking her shoes off through out the day, even if we were at home to make sure there was nothing in between her toes. If we went to the park she would go out of her way to not have to walk in the sand. The sand made her very nervous if she had to walk in it to get to the playground. If she did happen to walk in the sand she would take her shoes off multiple times while there and ask me to wipe the sand off. Lately it has gotten better, last week at the park she even made a sand castle and was having fun in the sand. I thought we were out of the clean foot fetish when all of the sudden:

While playing around yesterday in some of the trees the urge to clean her feet became to much so we HAD to take her shoes off get out a wipe and clean them. So much for growing out of it. Say does anyone know she could possibly get it? Papa any idea's?

Make up on your forehead, make up on your eyes...

This morning as I was getting ready for the day Aubree decided she also needed to get ready. She first put on her deodorant :

Then she got out HER make-up. Aubree's make-up consists of almost empty make-up from me and a lot of brushes. Every once and a while she needs to put on some real lip stick just to make it right. After she applies one thing and before she moves on to the next she asks me, "is it beautiful?" I always just laugh to myself and tell her yes it is.

If anyone out there is looking for a make-up artist she is currently looking for more clients.

I want to hold your hand

Aubree woke up yesterday from her nap and she was a little upset. I put her on my rocking chair and asked her if she wanted me to hold her. She said yes, so I asked her where she wanted me to her; her cheek, her nose, her forehead, or her elbow she said, "no I just need to hold your hand like this". Isn't she the sweetest 2 1/2 year old ever?

All night long, all night, all night long

She did it, Hayley slept all night last night! I feed her, and then Eli put her to bed at midnight, and then she woke up at 7am this morning. I guess she really does get her sleeping from her mom.

Heimlich Maneuver anyone?

Last night we went over to Grandma and Grandpa Erickson's house for dinner, we like to try and get up there a couple of times a month. We Erickson's enjoy our pig swill (aka: koolaid with fresh lemons), Aubree had decided she could be careful with a regular glass, instead of a sippy cup. When she took a drink it must have gone down the wrong tube, because she started to cough and cough. Once she was able to compose herself she thought it was funny and would randomly try to cough again which would just make us laugh. Grandpa Robert then took a drink and couldn't stop coughing, and then both uncles at the other end of table while eating bread were coughing. I couldn't stop laughing, who know coughs were contagious?

Someday my prince will come...

Aubree has been really interested in princesses and playing dress up. This morning she found a picture of Eli and I on our wedding day. She said, " mommy you a princess", just so matter of fact. Then she looked up at Eli and said, " daddy you a princess?", Eli replied " no daddy is a prince". Aubree then looked up at Eli and asked "did you wake mommy with true loves kiss?" it made me want to cry. She is pretty sure life is just a fairy tale, that we get to take part of.

Namaste

Thanks to her Gran, Aubree has taken up Yoga. This is downward facing dog or so we are told. She will break out in yoga anytime anyplace so watch out.

"Mother I'm hungry." "Lucky you just ate." "But I am just the same."

Aubree has figured out that if we tell her its bed time and she says she's hungry it buys her a little more time not to mention some food. So the last few nights when she has said this I ask her what she wants to eat and she says a Popsicle in this I'm starving voice. So as the good little mommy that does as I am asked I got her a Popsicle. But just as I am about to put the second part of it back in the freezer she says that daddy needs the other half. I am starting to think this is some kind of conspiracy she has going with Eli so they can have a snack and stay up later.

Movie Night

We have decided to start a new family tradition, family movie night, so tonight we borrowed Disney Pixars CARS (thanks Snow's). Eli and I have never seen the whole thing so we thought it would be great and show Aubree something besides Enchanted (Giselle) and Madagascar. Eli was holding Hayley and Aubree decided that she needed to sit right in Eli's lap. Needless to say it was quite the challenge for Eli to reach the nachos. Oh well guess that's just more for me.As the movie was ending Aubree decided to entertain us with a song while accompanying herself on the xylophone. She sang us Twinkle Twinkle and then the ABC's (her two favorite songs at any given time). Then, when she would finish, I would clap and she would...
bow. How cute is that! When Eli asked her where she learned that she just smiled and pointed to me, however I am here to tell you I can't even remember the last time I took a bow.

Someone's been sleeping in my bed...and she's still there

Princess Hayley has been quite the little sleeper lately( but now that I'm bragging she is going to completely stop). She loves to sleep in my bed, she slept from 11:30 last night to 6:15 in her bassinet, got up to eat and then slept until 8:30am. When she started to stir I put her in bed with Aubree and I (we/ I have a hard time with mornings)but then Aubree decided she needed to get dressed NOW, so I left Hayley in the center of the bed and she slept until now (10:50) isn't she great, she might look like her dad but she sleeps like her mom.

I like to move it, move it, you like to: MOVE IT

So Aubree has been obsessed with the movie Madagascar, thanks to her papa, she watches it almost everyday. She has started to pick up lines and act different scenes out which is cute, so when she walked up to me yesterday grabbed by back side and pretended to take a bite she said, I bite your butt. In the movie the lion bites the zebras rear end and the zebra is in shock so he says, "you bit my butt" 3 or 4 times. I guess she is starting to understand things a little more than I thought. What happened to just doing the sweet parts of movies?

Here we are together...

We did it, we are talking the plunge into the world of blogging.
This is us on the forth of July ready to go sweat it out at the parade.
